British American Tobacco remains hopeful that President Trump's administration will address the growing issue of illegal vapes in the U.S. With billions at stake, major companies urge enforcement against unauthorized products that threaten legal market shares while anticipating potential market shifts if regulatory changes are enacted.

British American Tobacco (BAT) is placing its hopes on the new administration under U.S. President Donald Trump to address the burgeoning issue of illegal vapes flooding the American market. BAT CEO Tadeu Marocco expressed optimism on Thursday regarding potential regulatory measures.

Flavored, disposable vape products lacking necessary regulatory authorization are reportedly worth billions and pose a significant threat to the market share of big tobacco companies like BAT and Altria. Meanwhile, only 34 vaping products have received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, demonstrating the scale of unauthorized sales.

Industry insiders are eager for government intervention, though some fear that such changes might inadvertently allow illicit market players into the legitimate space. Nevertheless, Marocco remains hopeful that the administration will successfully tackle the issue, restoring order within the sector.
