Paramount Pictures has settled a lawsuit with former U.S. President Donald Trump, involving a contentious CBS '60 Minutes' interview, by agreeing to pay $16 million. Trump had alleged that the news program deceptively edited an interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris.

The settlement comes as Paramount seeks approval from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for an $8.4 billion merger with Skydance Media. FCC Chair Brendan Carr emphasized that Trump's legal action did not influence the FCC's decision-making process, despite the merger's delays.

Skydance plans to acquire National Amusements and merge into Paramount, with David Ellison as CEO. Paramount clarified its settlement with Trump does not include promises for public service announcements unrelated to the mediator's resolve.
