The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into cyber science education is driving measurable improvements in engagement, performance, and retention rates, according to a new study by William Triplett from the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity at Capitol Technology University. The research provides a comprehensive look at how AI-powered tools are reshaping learning outcomes in cybersecurity and related digital disciplines.
The study, titled “AI-Enhanced Cyber Science Education: Innovations and Impacts,” was published in Information in August 2025. It explores the transformative effects of AI-driven adaptive learning systems, intelligent tutoring platforms, and simulation-based labs on student success while highlighting ethical and equity challenges that institutions must address to ensure responsible implementation.
AI Integration and Student Engagement
The research systematically reviewed peer-reviewed literature published between 2020 and 2025 and combined it with institutional case data and expert interviews. By analyzing 27 qualifying studies alongside operational data from institutions such as Capitol Technology University and Purdue Global, as well as industry insights from platforms like Coursera, RangeForce, and IBM Watson Education, Triplett mapped how AI adoption is reshaping engagement patterns in cyber education.
