The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore has unveiled a groundbreaking artificial intelligence (AI)-driven technology designed to enhance India's traffic management system, making it smarter and safer, institute officials announced on Monday.
This innovative technology, aimed at reducing road accidents, provides motorists with timely alerts, thus facilitating smoother vehicular movement. As expressed by Prof. Prabhat Kumar Upadhyay of IIT Indore's Electrical Engineering Department, there is a pressing need to advance the safety and intelligence of the nation's traffic systems in light of the global shift towards driverless cars.
The newly developed system, Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X), allows vehicles to send crucial messages to one another, potentially averting accidents and easing traffic congestion. Operating on advanced wireless networks like 4G LTE and 5G, the system employs intelligent algorithms to dynamically allocate communication resources efficiently, ensuring seamless and low-latency data transmission crucial for safety applications.
