The Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple is making headlines as it steps onto the AI scene for the first time at the AI Impact Summit 2026, held in the national capital. The temple, managed by the Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS), is keen on exploring how artificial intelligence can be integrated into their existing infrastructure without compromising on traditional values.
Dr Aksharananddas Swami, a temple member, highlights the significance of maintaining core values and ethical systems in this technological age. Their aim is to find ways to incorporate AI while preserving their cultural identity. "We are looking for educational opportunities, learning opportunities... we want to maintain the core values and ethical systems," he told PTI.
In partnership with the University of Cambridge, the temple is hosting a side event, focusing on the conscious use of technology. Engaging with various stakeholders at the summit, Dr Swami stresses that the awareness of one's values is crucial when adopting new technologies, ensuring that their core principles are not sidelined.
