JSW Infrastructure Expand Operations with New Port Development

JSW Infrastructure Ltd's subsidiary, JSW Tuticorin Multipurpose Terminal Pvt Ltd, has signed a concession agreement with V O Chidambaranar Port Authority. The agreement aims to develop and mechanise North Cargo Berth-III for dry bulk cargo under a Public-Private-Partnership. This project includes a 7 MPTA berth and access to diverse cargo profiles.

JSW Infrastructure Ltd, through its subsidiary JSW Tuticorin Multipurpose Terminal Pvt Ltd, announced on Wednesday that it has signed a concession agreement with V O Chidambaranar Port Authority. The agreement aims to develop and mechanise the North Cargo Berth-III for handling dry bulk cargo under a Public-Private-Partnership model.

This agreement follows the Letter of Award granted to the company on July 2 for the project, located at V O Chidambaranar Port in Tuticorin, roughly 600 km south of Chennai. Formerly known as Tuticorin Port Authority, it remains one of the region's key ports.

The project will involve the development and mechanisation of a 7 MPTA cargo berth on a Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis. JSW Tuticorin Multipurpose Terminal Pvt Ltd aims to leverage its expertise in handling bulk products to increase its cargo share on the Eastern coast, according to a press release issued Wednesday.

This collaboration will also provide access to the rich hinterland with a varied cargo profile, including dry bulk, coal, limestone, gypsum, and rock phosphate.
