External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday emphasized the vast potential in the India-UK relationship during talks with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy. The focus was on reinvigorating ties, including advancing a free trade pact.
Lammy, on a two-day visit to India, aims to reset the partnership in key areas such as trade, defence, clean energy, and new technologies. He also met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who affirmed India's commitment to enhancing ties with the UK and the importance of the free trade agreement.
This visit marks the first high-level engagement between the two nations since Prime Minister Keir Starmer's Labour government assumed office. Lammy stated that the trade agreement is just the beginning of the ambitions shared by both countries.
