Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Monday that the state's unemployment rate has gradually decreased to 6.1% for the 2023-24 financial year, reflecting the effectiveness of the government's policies.
Sarma highlighted that one of the BJP's significant election promises was to reduce unemployment and provide ample growth opportunities for the state's youth. He emphasized that the statistics speak for themselves, with unemployment expected to further decline due to ongoing policy interventions.
While posing on platform X, Sarma declared the state government's commitment to empowering Assam's youth through proactive policies, though he did not specify whether the new jobs were in the public or private sectors. Furthermore, the government has supported startups and self-help groups while ensuring job creation through rapid infrastructure development. The 'Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan' scheme, introduced in September 2023, aims to help young people establish their own ventures.
