Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has directed the suspension of officials if traffic flow on the Mumbai-Nashik highway does not improve within 10 days. He also called for halting toll collections until required repairs are completed.
Authorities have been instructed to inspect congestion spots with public representatives and create a comprehensive traffic management plan. Regular drone monitoring is emphasized to handle the situation more efficiently. Key issues such as potholes, underpasses, and ongoing flyover constructions are primary causes of the congestion.
Pawar highlighted that no new work should commence without providing alternative concrete roads equivalent to the original ones. The Maharashtra Government promises full support, but stringent measures will follow if improvements are not seen. A meeting concerning the highway's condition was chaired by Pawar at Mantralaya, underlining the urgency to resolve the issues, including increasing the currently extensive travel times.
