IndiGo Celebrates Independence with Historic Female Pilot Induction

IndiGo on Wednesday inducted 77 female pilots for its Airbus and ATR planes to celebrate 77 years of the country's independence.
With the latest induction, the carrier now boasts over 800 female pilots, far exceeding the global average of 7-9 percent.
This milestone is not just symbolic but reflects IndiGo's commitment to diversity and inclusivity. Captain Ashim Mitra, Senior Vice President of Flight Operations, emphasized the airline's dedication to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
In addition to these efforts, the airline has introduced lifecycle initiatives offering flexibility to female pilots with young children, allowing them to choose a reduced flying contract.
As of March 31, 2024, IndiGo had a total of 36,860 permanent employees, including 5,038 pilots and 9,363 cabin crew members.
