In a significant move for regional development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new terminal of Maa Mahamaya airport in Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh. The initiative represents a leap forward in connecting India's tribal-dominated regions by air, according to state Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai.
Alongside this, PM Modi unveiled projects worth over Rs 6,000 crore in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, including the virtual inauguration of airport terminals in Darima, Rewa, and Sarsawa. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to enhance India's aviation sector.
Officials highlighted that the Maa Mahamaya Airport upgrade, covering 365 acres and costing Rs 80 crore, supports 72-seater aircraft and an estimated capacity for 5 lakh passengers annually. The expanded infrastructure aims to fulfill longstanding regional aspirations and boost economic growth.
