Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav criticized the government's shifting goals for Uttar Pradesh's economy, particularly the projection to attain a one trillion dollar benchmark by 2029. Yadav pointed out the BJP's past claims set for 2024 and suggested a lack of trust in such promises.
Addressing the issue, Yadav stated that governments that struggle to meet their objectives tend to alter deadlines rather than focus on cultivating the future success of the state and nation. He labeled these adjustments as symbolic of the BJP's perceived dishonesty.
Despite Yadav's criticisms, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized in the state Assembly the strides made under the 'double engine government' inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, confidently projecting the state's economic growth and asserting that UP is set on the path to becoming the largest economy in India by 2029.
