Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has highlighted a substantial surge in investment in the state, revealing that proposals totaling Rs 40,000 crore have been received over the past three-and-a-half years. Speaking at the inauguration of a significant bottling plant by Reliance Consumer Products Ltd's Campa Cola, he emphasized the transformative impact these projects are having on the state's industrial scene.
The newly launched plant, in collaboration with local partner Jericho, spans 6 lakh sq ft and is poised to be one of Northeast's largest beverage manufacturing facilities. With production capacities exceeding 28 crore litres annually, the plant promises to rejuvenate local employment, offering 300 direct and 1,000 indirect jobs, according to Chief Minister Sarma.
As the state gears up for the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit, hopes are high for a continued influx of private investment. RCPL COO Ketan Mody and Jericho Foods' founder Ashis Agarwal have both expressed optimism, viewing the new plant as a cornerstone for economic growth and a step towards revising India's heritage brands while supporting sustainable regional development.
