Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate a significant highway project in Bihar this Friday. The project includes a newly constructed 1.865-km bridge over the Ganga River, linking Aunta in Mokama to Simaria in Begusarai, according to an official statement.
This strategic infrastructure will offer direct connectivity between Mokama's Patna district and Begusarai, providing an essential solution while the nearly seven-decade-old Rajendra Setu undergoes repairs. The current bridge is under repair, which restricts heavy vehicle movement.
With this new development, heavy vehicles will save up to 100 km on their routes as they travel between north and south Bihar. The bridge will also enhance access to the renowned pilgrimage site of Simaria Dham, the birthplace of celebrated poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar.
