Local train services between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Thane resumed on Tuesday evening following an eight-hour suspension. The city faced a significant disruption due to torrential rains that halted this crucial transportation line, according to railway officials.
The suspension began at 11:30 am and services resumed when the first train departed from CSMT at 7:28 pm. However, services on the harbour line between CSMT and Mankhurd remained closed, as emphasized by a railway spokesperson.
The suspension was necessitated by rising water levels, reaching up to eight inches above the tracks in the Sion and Kurla sections, prompting operational halts. The situation resulted in the rescheduling and cancellation of some long-distance trains, severely inconveniencing many commuters who resorted to walking along waterlogged tracks.
