Jindal Stainless Invests $150M in Sustainable Steelmaking at Odisha Unit

In a bid to revolutionize sustainable steelmaking, Jindal Stainless has committed $150 million towards expanding its slag processing capabilities at the Jajpur facility in Odisha. The expansion, in partnership with Harsco Environmental, demonstrates the company's dedication to enhancing circular production and conserving natural resources.
During a recent announcement, Managing Director Abhyuday Jindal emphasized the firm's focus on responsible growth amidst rising global demand. He stated, "As we expand capacity, we are committed to maintaining an environmentally conscious approach. The new wet milling plant will facilitate efficient slag use and benefit local communities."
Jajpur is set to become India's first site with two wet milling plants, showcasing a strengthened partnership between Jindal Stainless and Harsco Environmental. Manjunath Raghavelu, Managing Director, Harsco Environmental India and MEA, expressed enthusiasm about promoting circular economy practices and enhancing sustainability benchmarks.
Aligning with its Net Zero 2050 roadmap, Jindal Stainless has also showcased progress by reducing its carbon footprint by 14% in FY25. This initiative complements its pioneering projects, including India's first green hydrogen plant dedicated to stainless steel production and a major captive solar facility in Odisha.
