Forging Economic Bridges: India and Norway's Collaborative Ambitions

The summit, joined by Norwegian Crown Prince Haakon, showcased growing economic ties and mutual investment goals.
In a significant push towards strengthening economic ties, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called on Norwegian companies to explore investment opportunities in India. Speaking at the India-Norway Business and Research Summit, Modi cited India's recent reforms in taxation, labor laws, and governance as key attractions for foreign investment.
Amid global challenges such as food and fuel security, Modi emphasized the robust partnership between India and Norway. He highlighted India's potential in clean energy and health sectors, inviting Norway's wealth fund to become a key partner in India's clean energy initiatives. The summit saw participation from CEOs of over 50 companies and 250 representatives from the business and research communities.
Modi's address underscored the country's evolving economic framework, which enhances the ease of doing business through reduced compliance burdens. Encouraging further cooperation, he urged Norway's industry leaders to escalate shipbuilding collaboration, aiming for 25% of Norway's ships to be built in India within five years. The summit, attended by Norwegian Crown Prince Haakon and Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store, marked a new era in bilateral economic cooperation.
