China-Pakistan Forge Stronger Ties with New Economic and Security Agreements

China and Pakistan have agreed on a 'new broad consensus' to deepen strategic partnerships, enhance the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and turn Gwadar into a regional hub. They also reached agreements on regional diplomacy, security measures, and support for Middle East peace initiatives during Pakistan's Prime Minister's visit to Beijing.

China and Pakistan have solidified their alliance by reaching a 'new broad consensus' aimed at elevating strategic ties, advancing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and developing Gwadar port into a key regional connectivity hub. The milestone development follows Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's visit to Beijing, where discourse centered around economic collaboration amid regional geopolitical tensions.

In a joint statement following his talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, both sides welcomed third-party participation in CPEC, a project central to China's Belt and Road initiative. Emphasizing 'high-quality' development, they outlined plans to enhance Gwadar's infrastructure and strengthen road and port links, including upgrades to the Khunjerab Pass and Karakoram Highway.

China also lauded Pakistan for its diplomatic efforts in the Iran ceasefire talks and expressed solidarity in opposing actions that threaten regional security. Pakistan reiterated its support for the one-China principle, while both nations committed to curbing the influence of militant groups, fostering a stable regional environment.
