The Manipur government announced the closure of schools on September 7 in response to unrest stemming from bomb attacks in Bishnupur district.
The Directorate of Education (Schools) issued a notification stating that all educational institutions, including government, private, and central schools, will remain closed for the safety of students and teachers.
On Friday, an elderly man was killed, and five others were injured in a bomb attack on a residential area. A crude rocket fell on the property of former chief minister Mairembam Koireng.
It marked the second rocket attack in the district that day. The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), a coalition of civil organizations, declared a public emergency in the Imphal Valley.
