The Supreme Court has rebuked the Karnataka government for 'harassing' students through board examinations, and has ordered the state to halt the release of results for Classes 8, 9, and 10 until further notice.
A bench comprising Justices Bela M Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma expressed concern over the state's approach, warning against making the issue an ego battle. The court urged the state to prioritize educational welfare and avoid unnecessary distress for students.
The controversy stems from the Karnataka government's circular regarding board exams in various districts, which has now been withdrawn. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta assured the court that this was a mistake, and no results would be declared in the affected districts. The court has requested a detailed affidavit from the state.
