In a move to bolster leadership in its ranks, the Indian Institutes of Technology are initiating a specialized training programme aimed at grooming faculty members for future directorial positions. According to officials, the structured two-year programme will enhance the academic and leadership credentials of selected promising members.
Set to be led by IIT Bombay, the initiative seeks nominations from all IITs for members with proven academic and research prowess. The programme will unfold over three modules annually, targeting 300 to 350 participants, and may involve collaboration with the Indian Institutes of Management to bolster its curriculum.
The selection criteria are stringent, focusing on outstanding research, a student-centric approach, and strategic thinking. Key areas of development under the programme will include behavioural, functional, and selected domain competencies, hoping to prepare these individuals for the pivotal roles of IIT directors.
