The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UP Board) is set to make vocational education a compulsory element for students in Classes 9 and 11 from the academic year 2026, aiming to bridge the gap between schooling and employability, officials announced on Friday.

Secretary Bhagwati Singh revealed that subject committees have sanctioned curricula focusing on vocational trades such as IT, electronics, and beauty, crafted under expert guidance. These courses are designed to meet current industry expectations and elevate students' employability skills.

The effort aligns with the National Education Policy, focusing on skill development and vocational proficiency. The UP Board's initiative marks a significant push towards equipping students with practical knowledge and preparing them for future job markets. Development of further vocational courses continues apace.
