In a significant move to boost educational opportunities for economically challenged individuals, the not-for-profit organisation, Friends Union for Energising Lives (FUEL), has launched a novel financial instrument. The Zero Coupon Zero Principal (ZCZP) bond issue opened for subscription on the National Stock Exchange's (NSE) Social Stock Exchange on Wednesday.
This unique Rs 1 crore ZCZP instrument, priced at Re 1 per bond with a minimum lot size of 1,000, will remain available for subscription until March 23. The bonds, approved by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi), are set to be listed on March 26. FUEL plans to use the proceeds to provide scholarships, digital skills training, workforce integration initiatives, and entrepreneurship guidance for students and adults from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
According to FUEL's founder and Chairman, the organisation, which has already trained over 2.9 lakh youth and awarded more than 2,900 scholarships, is committed to enhancing transparency, governance, and measurable impact.
