In a groundbreaking move to redefine technical education, an engineering college in Indore will soon introduce a BTech course in Civil Engineering taught entirely in Hindi, officials revealed on Wednesday. The initiative seeks to expand educational access and encourage talented students from various backgrounds by offering a Rs 2 lakh incentive.
The prestigious Shri GS Institute of Technology and Science (SGSITS), located in central India, will launch this four-year Hindi-medium program in the academic year 2026-27. The education ministry aims to inspire future generations by promoting native language learning. Notably, the course has been available in English since 1952, accommodating 90 students, while an additional 30 seats now await Hindi-medium enrollees.
Faced with an apparent shortage of Hindi study resources, SGSITS has diligently engaged in translating English materials approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) over the past four years. Despite the uphill battle in traditional English-dominated settings, SGSITS stays committed to charting a new course for inclusive education.
