Mumbai, Maharashtra, India – In a pioneering move towards sustainability, NIVEA, India’s No. 1 Trusted Skin Care Brand, has launched the Distributor Quality Program, transforming plastic waste into functional store units. Initiated in 2021, the environmental drive aims for a marked reduction in plastic waste while enhancing infrastructure within its distributor networks.
This innovative approach tackles multi-layer plastic (MLP), known for its recycling challenges. Collaborating with 57 key distributors, NIVEA meticulously cleans and processes plastic waste, turning it into eco-friendly sheets that replace traditional wooden panels. These sheets are then crafted into durable store units, distributed across 39 key cities in India.
The initiative has achieved significant milestones, recycling 65 tons of MLP, conserving 1,755 cubic meters of water, and offsetting 358 tons of CO2 emissions. By creating 1,000 job opportunities and recognizing top-performing distributors, NIVEA demonstrates its commitment to environmental and social sustainability. Supply Chain Director Neha Parekh hailed the initiative as a blending of safety, quality, and sustainability.
