Former BBC news presenter Huw Edwards pleaded guilty on Wednesday to three counts of making indecent images of children.
The 62-year-old's offenses, heard at Westminster Magistrates' Court, involved images exchanged on WhatsApp from December 2020 to August 2021. The court learned that Edwards, who previously anchored the BBC's nighttime news and covered Queen Elizabeth II's funeral, engaged in online chats with an adult man that culminated in the sharing of 41 indecent images of children.
Edwards could face up to 10 years in prison but may receive a suspended sentence, given his remorse and health issues. Edwards has been remanded on bail until a pre-sentencing hearing on September 16.
