In a groundbreaking endeavor, a first-ever all-women mountaineering team from the Border Security Force (BSF) is set to embark on an expedition from Delhi on Monday.
The 12-member squad will aim to scale Mount Mukut East in Uttarakhand, reaching an altitude of 7,130 meters (23,392 feet), and will unfurl both the national and BSF flags upon reaching the summit. Acting BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary will officially flag off the team from BSF headquarters in Delhi.
This mission is more than a physical challenge; it promotes women empowerment and aligns with the national 'Swachh Bharat-Swachh Himalaya' and 'Hum Fit Toh India Fit' initiatives. The BSF, totaling around 2.65 lakh personnel, is entrusted with securing India's borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh and fulfilling various internal security roles.
