President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday applauded the "very small but active" Indian community in Timor-Leste as a 'living bridge,' recognizing their role in strengthening bilateral relations. She announced that India will soon open its embassy in the country.

Speaking at an interaction event with the Indian diaspora, President Murmu underscored the importance of their contributions. Earlier, she received the Grand Collar of the Order of Timor-Leste, the nation's highest honor, from her counterpart José Ramos-Horta for her public service achievements.

Highlighting India's developmental achievements and shared challenges with Timor-Leste, President Murmu expressed confidence in the continued partnership between the two nations. She emphasized that the new embassy would facilitate various services for Indian-origin residents and travelers.
