India and Ukraine on Friday inked four agreements, aiming to bolster collaboration in vital sectors such as defence, trade, pharmaceuticals, green energy, and education. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral ties.
During extensive talks, both leaders expressed mutual interest in elevating their relationship from a comprehensive partnership to a strategic one. They emphasized the importance of defence cooperation, agreeing to facilitate stronger ties through joint collaborations and manufacturing of military hardware in India.
Modi's visit to Kyiv marks the first-ever trip by an Indian prime minister since Ukraine's independence in 1991. Although discussions largely focused on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, a significant portion was devoted to bilateral relations. The leaders also tasked the India-Ukraine inter-governmental commission to focus on rebuilding trade and economic ties.
