Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing a rejuvenation of tourism activities in its frontier areas, as the mood shifts to optimism following a ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) and international border (IB). Notably, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has emphasized the emerging trend of positive tourism developments in the region.
During a session at the Legislative Assembly, Abdullah responded to National Conference member Sajad Shafi's inquiries about Uri's tourism potential. With stabilized border conditions, tourism interest is rising, particularly in scenic locations like Aman Setu. The administration is prioritizing the enhancement of infrastructure to accommodate this growth.
Despite the current absence of proposals for new attractions such as ziplines or cable cars, the Chief Minister mentioned future assessments are in the pipeline. The Tourism Department's efforts extend to developing adventure tourism and supporting facilities like camping and sightseeing across the region's breathtaking landscapes.
