In a bid to rejuvenate its tourism sector, Egypt has unveiled the refurbished Colossi of Memnon in Luxor, representing a significant archaeological milestone. These massive statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III symbolize the grandeur of ancient Egypt, drawing attention to the country's historical richness.

The restoration, which spanned two decades, involved reassembling these statues after they were fragmented due to an earthquake around 1200 BC. This renovation effort was led by an Egyptian-German mission to restore what was once part of Amenhotep III's funerary temple.

This unveiling follows the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum and signals Egypt's ongoing efforts to revive tourism amidst an economy troubled by past political instability. By showcasing these iconic monuments, Egypt hopes to boost its cultural tourism appeal and economic prospects.
