Amidst controversy surrounding redevelopment at Manikarnika Ghat, District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar assured the public that no idols have been damaged during the reconstruction. He clarified that misinformation circulated on social media is not reflective of the ground reality, calming fears among the concerned.
Kumar explained that while some artworks embedded in the ghat's walls were affected, they have been carefully preserved by the Culture Department and will be reinstalled upon the project's completion. He urged the public to dismiss rumors and rely on official sources for credible information.
The redevelopment, aimed at improving space and sanitation at the ancient cremation ground, faced protests amid allegations of damage to a historic idol. Officials maintained that the cultural and religious integrity of Manikarnika Ghat will be upheld throughout the redevelopment process.
