Simran Bala, a 26-year-old Assistant Commandant from Jammu and Kashmir, is set to create history by leading an all-male contingent of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at the Republic Day parade in New Delhi on January 26. This marks the first instance where a female officer will command more than 140 male personnel during this prestigious national event.
Bala, who hails from Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir, stands as the first female officer from her district to join the CRPF, India's largest paramilitary force known for its pivotal role in internal security, anti-Naxal efforts, and counter-terrorist operations. A political science graduate, she emerged as the top officer during her training at the CRPF academy.
The Republic Day parade is a grand showcase of India's military might and cultural diversity. Alongside Bala's contingent, a team of women 'dare devils' from the CRPF and Sashastra Seema Bal, alongside various other contingents, will demonstrate their skills, ensuring the event remains a testament to the nation's strength and unity.
