In a significant legal reprieve for actor Rajpal Yadav, the Delhi High Court has suspended his sentence related to cheque bounce cases and has permitted his release from jail until March 18. The decision was made after Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma noted Yadav's deposit of Rs 1.5 crore into the complainant's account, M/s Murali Projects Pvt Ltd.

The interim suspension comes as Yadav cited a familial obligation—a marriage scheduled on February 19. Conditions attached to Yadav's release require him to surrender his passport and forbid leaving the country without prior court approval. He is also directed to attend the hearing, either in person or virtually, next month.

This development follows previous court rulings where both Yadav and his wife had their convictions upheld by a sessions court. These arise from cheque bounce offenses originating in April 2018, leading to a six-month imprisonment sentence. The controversial case is connected to financial losses from a failed film venture, which Yadav's counsel attributed as a genuine transaction gone awry.
