A mudslide resulted in the tragic deaths of five labourers, including four family members, in Madhya Pradesh's Panna district while they were digging a well. The incident occurred around midday in Nayapurwa village, part of the Ajaygarh development block.
Following the calamity, Mohan Yadav expressed deep sorrow and announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh for each bereaved family. The victims were working on a public irrigation well under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act when the earth gave way, trapping them beneath the debris.
Panna's Superintendent of Police, Nivedita Naidu, confirmed the retrieval of the bodies of Ashish Yadav, Rajkumar Yadav, Rampal Yadav, Chunnu Yadav, and Chunvad Pal, noting that rescue teams safely extracted two other workers.
The state government has been instructed to provide the promised financial aid, underscoring the administration's commitment to assisting the affected families as they navigate this profound loss.
