David Sullivan Steps Down Amid Controversy

David Sullivan, co-chairman of West Ham United, announced his immediate resignation on Saturday following the emergence of what he denounced as 'factually incorrect and entirely false' allegations concerning his personal life. These claims are reportedly set to be aired by BBC Panorama and published by The Times.

The 77-year-old businessman, who has made his wealth in pornography, newspapers, and football, criticized media sensationalism surrounding the allegations and stated his intentions to pursue libel actions against involved media outlets. Sullivan was clear that none of the allegations relate to West Ham United, a club he is passionate about.

The club confirmed that Karim Virani would assume interim leadership, managing daily operations as the board considers future restructuring. Sullivan's resignation comes after a challenging season for the club, following their relegation to the Championship.
