Solidarity with Ukraine is important but national grain markets must be protected, Slovakia's agriculture minister said on Wednesday as he supported a regional call for the extension of a ban on grain imports from Ukraine.
After a meeting with his colleagues from Hungary, Poland and Romania, Jozef Bires also said their joint declaration asking for the ban extension will help the European Commission to consider how much longer the ban should stay in place.
