Supreme Court Seeks Centre's Response on NEET-SS 2024 Postponement Plea

The Supreme Court has asked the Centre and other respondents to address accusations of an arbitrary decision to indefinitely postpone the NEET-SS Examination 2024. Thirteen doctors have requested the court to reschedule the exam to July-August 2024 and nullify the postponement decision made in February.

The Supreme Court on Friday sought a response from the Centre and other stakeholders concerning a plea challenging the indefinite postponement of the NEET-SS Examination 2024. The controversial decision, made during a meeting on February 21, has been called arbitrary and irrational by the petitioners, who include 13 doctors led by Rahul Balwan.

Heading the bench, Chief Justice of India requested statements from the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and National Medical Commission (NMC) after the doctors, represented by Rashmi Nandakumar, filed the plea. The petitioners hold that the postponement disrupts their career plans and affects the entire academic schedule.

The plea argues that the postponement decision violates a pre-established timeline for admissions to Super Speciality Courses, causing stress and uncertainty for candidates. It notes that delays disrupt not just academic plans but also affect patient care, urging the court to restore the original schedule for NEET-SS Examination 2024.
