Heavy Rains Lash Delhi, Trigger Waterlogging, Tragedies, and Disruptions
Delhi witnessed heavy rainfall causing waterlogging, traffic jams, and resulting in three deaths. Traffic police responded to over 50 complaints. Schools closed by Education Minister due to forecast of further rains. IMD predicts intermittent showers till August 5.

Amidst intense rainfall in the national capital, the Delhi Traffic Police on Wednesday night received over 50 complaints regarding waterlogging issues across the city. From 6 pm to midnight, the control room logged numerous calls about waterlogged roads and traffic jams. Local traffic police were informed, and measures were taken to alleviate the situation.
Tragedy struck in two separate incidents in Delhi. In the Ghazipur area, 22-year-old Tanuja and her three-year-old son Priyansh drowned in a waterlogged drain. Another fatality occurred in Subji Mandi where an old structure collapsed, killing one person. Fire services and the NDRF responded promptly, recovering the deceased from the rubble.
Additionally, there were several reports related to traffic disruptions and fallen trees. In Daryaganj, a wall collapse at a private school damaged five parked cars. The IMD reported 147.5 mm of rainfall in various parts of the city between July 31 and August 1 morning. Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena instructed officers to stay alert, while Education Minister Atishi announced school closures for Thursday due to the weather forecast. The IMD has warned of persisting showers and advises caution until August 5.
