In a heated exchange in the Rajya Sabha, Congress leader Rajeev Shukla lashed out at Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for his remarks on the Congress party's failures in the agriculture sector. Shukla emphasized the pivotal role of the Green Revolution, initiated under Congress, in transforming India into a wheat-exporting nation.

Shukla critiqued Chouhan's historical awareness, claiming, 'He has just become the Union Agriculture Minister... He does not know about the history of agriculture.' Shukla asserted that the Green Revolution, led by Indira Gandhi, was a cornerstone of India's agricultural success, which Chouhan overlooked in his claims of progress post-2014.

Earlier, Chouhan accused the Congress of neglecting irrigation infrastructure during their tenure. He highlighted that irrigation facilities in Madhya Pradesh were limited under Congress rule, a situation rectified by increasing the irrigated area from 7.5 lakh hectares to 47.5 lakh hectares under BJP leadership. Chouhan also reaffirmed the Modi government's commitment to supporting farmers with affordable fertilizer availability.
