Newly introduced, the Pusa Gehun Gaurav variety of Durum wheat is set to redefine culinary standards with its enhanced texture for chapatis and superior pasta quality.
Unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi among 109 climate-resilient crop varieties, Pusa Gehun Gaurav was developed by Dr. Jung Bahadur Singh and his team at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) in Indore.
This innovative wheat features better water absorbency, resulting in softer chapatis and excellent quality pasta due to its high yellow pigment and hard grains. It is rich in protein, iron, and zinc, and can thrive in low irrigation and high-temperature conditions, making it a versatile choice for Indian farmers.
