The city of Mumbai has set the stage for New Year celebrations with a packed schedule of parties and cultural events. Featuring live music, themed decorations, and eagerly awaited countdowns, these festivities are expected to culminate in a breathtaking display of fireworks at midnight, visible from landmarks such as Marine Drive, Juhu Beach, and Worli Sea Face.
Fireworks are the highlight as Mumbai rings in the New Year in grand style, drawing cheers from crowds on the streets and from balconies or rooftops. Popular beaches, including Juhu and Chowpatty, become crowded hubs for bonfires and impromptu parties, especially for those opting to stay away from packed clubs but still desire a lively atmosphere.
To ensure road safety during these celebrations, Mumbai police have launched a campaign featuring mascots dressed as liquor bottles offering 'Drive Safe' advice. Similar safety precautions have been implemented in other states, including total security overhauls in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Kerala, where Kovalam Lighthouse Beach hosts gathering crowds.
Delhi Police have reinforced security measures with checkpoints, breath analyzers to curb drunk driving, and strategic placement of quick response teams. President Murmu has extended her greetings, calling for hope and unity as India steps into 2025.
