Bharatiya Janata Party's Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi on Monday voiced serious concerns about alleged links between Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi and his wife Elizabeth Gogoi with George Soros' Open Society foundation and the Pakistan government. Trivedi reiterated comments by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma accusing Gogoi of engaging in conversations with the Pakistan High Commissioner to India in 2015.

Trivedi criticized the Congress, suggesting they harbor intentions to destabilize the nation while showing favoritism towards adversary nations. He highlighted alleged connections between senior Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi and George Soros' foundation, alongside troubling engagements at the Pakistan Embassy. Trivedi suggested these issues reflect a detrimental agenda towards India's domestic and international interests.

The controversy around Gaurav Gogoi and his wife's alleged connections to a Pakistani national has escalated. Assam’s police, following a cabinet decision, have filed a case under various sections of the BNS and UAPA against Ali Tauqeer Sheikh. Assam DGP Harmeet Singh indicated initial investigations suggest actions threatening national security.

Countering these claims, Gaurav Gogoi accused the Assam CM of fear-driven deflections ahead of looming state elections. Gogoi addressed the public, asserting the Congress' transparent position on these allegations and challenging the CM's fluctuating narratives.
