According to police reports, the incident occurred while the girls were bathing in the Narmada canal near the village of Umariyapan.

Police officials identified the deceased as Siddhi Patel, aged 12, and Anshika Patel, aged 14. Rescue teams are still searching for Siddhi's 8-year-old sister, Manvi. The local villagers alerted the authorities, prompting an immediate rescue operation with divers.
