Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has firmly dismissed rumors about funding cuts to the 'Ladki Bahin' scheme, assuring that all beneficiaries will receive their promised amounts. He emphasized the state's commitment, stating that provisions can be adjusted as necessary to ensure the monthly promise of Rs 2100 is fulfilled.
In a broader vision, Fadnavis announced initiatives in providing 300 units of free electricity per month and leveraging Artificial Intelligence to boost agricultural yield. These declarations followed a joint press conference with Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, introducing the Maharashtra Budget, highlighting AI and energy plans as pivotal to the state's growth.
Fadnavis outlined Maharashtra's robust economic standing, citing its leadership in Goods and Service Tax collection and Foreign Direct Investment. He pointed out the state's fiscal health, with a managed deficit and prudent loan levels, outpacing national averages in key economic indicators.
Further initiatives were mentioned, including housing schemes and incentives for women's self-help groups, drawing attention to successful models in Nagpur. The government eyes fostering 'Lakhpati didi' groups where women can earn significant monthly incomes through state-supported programs.
Finance Minister Ajit Pawar elaborated on Maharashtra's strategic economic advancements, emphasizing a commitment to spearhead India's journey to becoming a developed nation by 2047. He announced substantial investments and job creation expected from new MoUs with international companies.
Highlighting Maharashtra's GDP contribution and infrastructure ambitions, Pawar mentioned the development of Mumbai Metropolitan Region as a growth hub, reflecting the continued economic dynamism anticipated from strategic regional planning.
