Supreme Court Extends Protection for Uttar Pradesh Journalists Amid Defamation Cases

The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered to continue the interim protection granted to two Uttar Pradesh-based journalists facing defamation allegations.
Journalists Abhishek Upadhyay and Mamta Tripathi had been booked in multiple FIRs for reportedly defamatory content. The court advised them to seek remedies through the state's High Court.
Justices M.M. Sundresh and Rajesh Bindal extended the protection amid ongoing legal proceedings, emphasizing that appeals against past High Court decisions must be considered before further action.
