In a scathing critique, former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Bhupesh Baghel, has accused the central government of protecting the controversial Mahadev betting app. At a press conference on Thursday, Baghel alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were patronizing the app by discouraging legal action against it.
Baghel further alleged that cash seized in connection with the Mahadev case was tied to a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader. He expressed frustration over the freedom enjoyed by Saurabh Chandrakar, the alleged mastermind behind the app, who remains at large despite an arrest request.
In response, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai assured strict measures against those implicated in the betting scandal, regardless of their political affiliations. Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted extensive searches at multiple locations, including Baghel's residence, in connection to the case. These events unfolded as political tensions heightened, with Baghel suggesting the raids were politically motivated.
