Maharashtra's Water Resources and Disaster Management Minister Girish Mahajan has reviewed preparations for the 2027 Nashik Kumbh Mela, underlining the need for efficient crowd and infrastructure management.
Mahajan highlighted efforts to keep water clean throughout the year, drawing parallels with the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela's recently concluded event. He suggested that the Nashik gathering could see two to three times the attendance compared to previous years, necessitating the search for a new site for the ceremonial holy bath due to space constraints at the current location.
Nashik officials, led by Divisional Commissioner Praveen Gedam, have been learning from Prayagraj's recent Mela preparations. With key projects like sewage treatment plants and highways initiated, Mahajan emphasizes the importance of timely infrastructure development to accommodate the incoming crowds. The government eyes smooth sanitation, security, and logistical arrangements for this massive religious congregation.
