Ford Increases Car Prices Amid Trump's Tariff Turmoil
Ford Motor is raising prices on its Mexico-produced models due to U.S. tariffs. The affected cars include the Mustang Mach-E, Maverick pickup, and Bronco Sport. The price increase follows recent tariffs imposed by President Trump, leading to increased costs for Ford and generalized uncertainty in the auto sector.
Ford Motor Company has announced a price increase for three of its models manufactured in Mexico, effective May 2. The move comes in response to tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump, which have significantly impacted the automotive industry.
The affected vehicles, including the Mustang Mach-E electric SUV, Maverick pickup, and Bronco Sport, will see prices rise by up to $2,000 per model. Ford's decision follows the recent declaration that these tariffs could add as much as $2.5 billion in costs by 2025, with rival automaker GM also expecting significant financial impacts.
The tariff-related uncertainty has led to a strategic shift for major carmakers like Ford, including changes to production and temporary suspensions of forecasts. Despite some concessions from the Trump administration, significant tariffs remain, potentially leading to a decrease in U.S. auto sales if left unaddressed.
