Drone Debris Ignites Fires in Voronezh Amid Ongoing Conflict
A Ukrainian drone attack on Voronezh injured a woman and caused fires in several buildings. Approximately 15 drones were taken down by air defense. Tensions remain high as both Russia and Ukraine deny targeting civilians while continuing strategic strikes in the ongoing conflict.
A Ukrainian drone strike on Voronezh has left a woman injured and caused fires in multiple residential and utility structures due to drone debris, as reported by the regional governor on Sunday. Air defense systems successfully intercepted around 15 drones in the southern Russian region, according to Governor Alexander Gusev on Telegram.
'The threat of further drone attacks remains,' Gusev noted in his early morning post. Reuters has not independently verified the report, and Ukrainian authorities have not commented on the situation.
Both Russia and Ukraine deny deliberately targeting civilians during the conflict that intensified with Russia's invasion in February 2022. Kyiv asserts that its cross-border actions are aimed at critically impeding infrastructure supporting Moscow's war efforts and retaliating against persistent Russian strikes on Ukraine. The Russian defense ministry also reported intercepting 41 drones near the Ukraine border and over the Black Sea late Saturday.
